This dessert tastes so good it\u2019s hard to believe how easy it is to make. Soft, slightly tart apples, a spoonful of sweet cherry jam, delicate vanilla-scented cream and crunchy nuts on top \u2014 delicious! There are dozens of varieties available, and it\u2019s important to choose ones that are suitable for baking \u2014 apples that become soft in the oven but don\u2019t turn into mush, with a pleasantly tart flavour. For baking, I most often choose varieties such as Szara reneta, Anton\u00f3wka Ligol or Jonagold.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-c38e5e921839cc53fd68e4cd94fd958c\" style=\"color:#c69f74\">Oven-baked apples \u2013 what cream works best?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For baked apples, I recommend the simplest cream possible \u2014 one that doesn\u2019t even require a mixer. The combination of creamy mascarpone, a small amount of icing sugar and vanilla extract is surprisingly delicious. Don\u2019t skip the vanilla; it\u2019s essential here. Use natural vanilla extract or a small amount of seeds from a vanilla pod.
