This healthy green smoothie is real fast food, as you can whip it up in 5 minutes. Loaded with fresh, wholesome ingredients like spinach, avocado, banana, apple and coconut water is a nutritious snack or breakfast. It’s creamy and delicious too!
I like making smoothies as it’s the easiest way to add more green leaves into our diet. My number one is definitely spinach, but I recommend to change your greens each week.
This green smoothie is a vegan friendly, gluten-free and dairy-free option, so it fits dietary restrictions.
Addition of avocado makes this smoothie super creamy but slightly thicker. Therefore, feel free to add more coconut water/water adjusting the consistency to your liking.
Can I freeze green smoothie ingredients?
You can prepare small bags with the ingredients for the individual smoothies (without liquid ingredients) and throw them into the freezer. When you are ready to make your smoothie just throw frozen ingredients to a blender, add liquid ingredients and process until silky smooth. I use this option to minimise the waste of greens.
Can I store my green smoothie?
Smoothies are best when served fresh, so I don’t really recommend preparing the recipe ahead of time. However, if you have any leftovers store them in an airtight container in the fridge and drink within 1-2 days (shake it well before).
Can I add proteins to my green smoothie?
You can also add a serving of whey protein powder or plant-based protein powder to your smoothie. In this case, you may need to add more liquid to adjust the thickness.
