This dish is prepared using cherry tomatoes, sun-dried tomatoes, two types of cheese (Brie and Mozzarella), oregano, fresh basil, and of course, eggs. Not only is a frittata easy to prepare, but it's also healthy and filling, meaning you won't feel hungry for a long time. This breakfast will surely make every morning more pleasant.

What is a frittata?
Frittata originates from Italy and is a traditional Italian dish, especially popular in the southern regions of the country. The name "frittata" comes from the Italian word frittawhich means "fried."
Historically, frittata was a simple, home-style dish often made with leftovers—vegetables, cheese, or cured meats—mixed with eggs and cooked. It was a way to avoid food waste while still creating a hearty and nutritious meal.
Today, frittata is not only a staple of Italian cuisine but also a popular dish worldwide. Depending on the region and culinary traditions, you can find different variations of it.
Is frittata fried or baked?
- The classic method starts by frying the frittata in a pan. Once the eggs begin to set, the pan is transferred to the oven to finish cooking. This technique ensures a lightly golden top and an evenly cooked centre.
- An alternative method is to bake the frittata entirely in the oven, using a baking dish or a tart pan. This approach saves time and makes preparation even easier.
One of the greatest advantages of a frittata is its versatility. You can prepare a frittata with almost any ingredient you have on hand, making it a great way to use up leftovers from the fridge. It can be served both warm and cold, presenting a great option for breakfast, brunch, a light lunch, or even as a snack.
